Castle Douglas High School presents cheques to Riding for the Disabled and Schools for Africa
The photograph was taken at a recent Castle Douglas High School assembly where two cheques, each for £400, were presented.

The money was raised in a week of activity prior to the Christmas Holiday - staff and pupils worked hard together to organise a concert called CD's Got Talent and held a wide variety of stalls and games and competitions.
One amount of money raised has gone towards Riding for the Disabled in Ringford, a local resource used by pupils at the school. This cheque was presented by House Captains and was received by Pat Withall on behalf of the charity; she also spoke about the work undertaken by the group. The other £400 was raised for Schools for Africa; the school works in partnership with Castle Douglas Rotary Club, who support this charity. Philip Oswald, Depute Head Teacher in the school is also a member of Castle Douglas Rotary Club and accepted the cheque on their behalf.
"Mr Malloch, the School Chaplain, spoke about the meaning of charity at Assembly and then we tied this theme into our school aims: Respect, Unity and Achievement," said Mr Oswald, "The work undertaken prior to Christmas by the pupils, staff and parents in the school reflects all of these aims. The school is grateful to everyone who gave us support in raising £800 for charity"
